The Holistic Haven Collective is a wellness collective in Sarnia, Ontario focused on natural healing, holistic wellness services, alternative therapies, and community connection Our goal is to create a welcoming healing space where individuals throughout Sarnia-Lambton can explore holistic wellness services, alternative healing therapies, and natural wellness products. This is the story of how our wellness community came to life.
One day, I was browsing the Lambton County Library website, and this book popped up, “Your Intuition Led You Here” by Alex Naranjo and Marlene Vargas. I thought I’d always been intuitive, so why not give it a read?
I flew through the book.
It tells the story of two women who shared the same spiritual beliefs and passion for helping others. Together, they started a small business. The book followed their journey, their resilience, and their commitment to their dream. They went all in. Even though it was slow to start, they kept on trying to pursue this dream. Over time, their community, their
“tribe” came to them. They not only succeeded in reaching their goals but also made a meaningful impact and built a community.
Building a Wellness Community in Sarnia-Lambton

After reading it, I felt inspired. I said to my friend Amy Wellington, “Let’s start a holistic business.” Amy is trained in essential oils, herbalism and nutrition, with one of her previous professions as a dottera representative, and I was eager to help and had a drive to self-train in herbalism. She has always used her natural remedies for treatments for herself and her children.
I was already pretty established as an RMT. I completed a Herbal Pharmacy course with Wild Rose Pacific College, as well as a few other holistic wellness courses.
We started Practical Magik, we sold natural health and wellness products– thinking plant Magik with a twist. We tried marketing our products on social media, mainly working from my basement. (Like most small businesses that are starting out) We’d get the odd Sale, but it was hard without a storefront, and at the time, it seemed impossible to grow.
As we discussed what our goals were, we noticed how many other people were like us, small business owners, passionate about their services and products, but struggling to carve a space within the community. Even if small business owners truly believe in their products and have tried and tested them, it is often a struggle to find visibility and support.
We realized we could create a space that would not only support our own vision but also help other holistic practitioners, makers, and wellness-focused small businesses build connections and grow within a supportive community.
We also wanted to create a welcoming space for wellness events, workshops, healing circles, educational classes, and community gatherings where people in Sarnia-Lambton could connect, learn, and support each other on their journeys.
I kept seeing our dream coming to life.
I wanted to bring like-minded people together. A collective focused on connection and healing. I believe in the idea that if you build it, they will come. I heard this in my head as if the angels and higher powers were pushing me towards this.
Then the stars aligned.
I was able to purchase a space, 321 Wellington in Sarnia, Ontario, that could not only support us, but also other small business makers and holistic practitioners as well.
Today, the Holistic Haven Collective is living my dream of helping the community find natural and wellness products and services to promote a healthier lifestyle. Most importantly, I feel like I’m answering a call from my higher self to fulfil my life’s purpose around healing and community.
